Elephants in Silhouette
Description
If there are elephants you seek look no further than northern Botswana. This is an elephant haven, with Chobe National Park boasting more than 100,000 elephants! In the three days I spent there, I saw at least saw a thousand elephants. Here a herd is seen silhouetted against the setting sun on the banks of the Chobe River.
Large herds gather from all over the national park for eating, drinking, bathing, and socialising at this hour, making these meetings extraordinary to witness. Watching them move slowly, almost delicately while casting such sharp shadows, made the experience of photographing them quite special. No two elephants were alike, no two silhouettes similar. They were all part of a larger shadow theatre, each one extraordinary in its own right.
